I agree. I never thought it was needed as a bloody single. It should have stayed as an album track that I mostly skipped and occasionally got most of the way through before I realised I hadn't moved on to the next one.
I haven't listened to the album in years. I ought to. I still haven't listened to American Life the whole way through, or Confessions at all. I just bought them out of a bin because I figured they were so cheap it was almost harder not to have them.
I'm assuming Confessions actually sounds like Madonna's vile bits trying to break out of her leotard?

Confessions has some good bits, but it's far from being her best.

You should give AL a chance though, I really think the single screwed that whole album.

I will. I just buy loads of albums and it's hard to put AL near the top of my list of records I need to digest.

Ray of light is a hard song to sing.

please, why are people so quick to label Madonna bombs as great?? American Life sucks, it only like 4 good songs wich are Hollywood, American Life, Nothing Fails and I would say XStatic Process and that's it, it's a shit album.

And Madonna's American Life video FIASCO didn't help the album AT ALL. If she had had the balls(and I never thought in MY LIFE I would say this) to release that video everything would've been different.

She chickened out, period, for the first time ever Madonna became afraid of the backlash and I think it was unnecessary, the video was anti war so seriously who was she offending?? it was art and it wasn't going to save anyone's life and I don't think she and her family would've been endangered by it, it was just a dumb dumb move to MAKE THAT VIDEO and second to can the video.

And it's ironic because the video has nothing to do with the song.

My take on the video?? I would've made Madonna a 1950's plastic housewife like the stepford wives completely trapped by reality and daily life and all that kabbalah shabang, but that's just me I don't make her videos, so.
