So apparently I am the DERvil...

I was at an appointment today and the person I was speaking to asked me what type of music I listen to and I replied " most kinds." She said " I like Christian rock." Then " Do you listen to Christian music?" And I said "No, that's about the only type I don't listen to." And she had this sort of fearful and suspicious look. After what seemd like a long pause she questioned me "Why not?" I said " Well, most of it seems to be like top 40 pop or top 40 rock, neither of which is really to my liking." She also asked if I listen to heavy metal, because, appreantly the two are seen as mutually exclusive. ( Don't bring up Stryper.) Anyway, that pretty much ended the chit chat portion of the apointment.

I consider myself to be very open minded about music and to have a wide range of tastes, but I do have definite preferences. So I was reflecting -- and I think that is the only genre wherein I do not like anything I have heard. I am sure some are encouraged to listed to it so they aren't swayed from beliefs or potentially offended. And I get that. But I am offended by how lame the genre overall appears to be. So can someone tell me if I am missing a band in the (self identified) Christian Genre that makes great music?

I really do not know much about it. I remember a lot of press talk about Sixpence None the Richer (?) and some band with Clay in the title, who had big hits and were lumped in both pop and Christian music. I agree though, I am not to keen on most pop music in general...Christian or not.

I have heard of some christian heavy metal bands..... Neon cross was one I think.

I remember the band eternal were also christians... and Mario Wynans is the son of gospel singer Bebe wynans. Also Mary Mary were a christian band. And amy grant too....
