I woke up feeling the need to start an appreciation thread for Lee Ranaldo.
But I don't really have anything interesting to say about him, just that he is cool as fuck and totally the best Sonic Youth member. I love his accent too. And his songs are always the most awesome on any SY album. Like, Theresa's Sound World is a fucking masterpiece. I think it's my favourite SY song evaaaa.
Appreciate, people. And share mp3s if you like.

It makes no difference anyway, he still has lotsss of wonderful songs (Hoarfrost <333) and deserves appreciation

i really like nyc ghosts and flowers, eric's trip and wish fulfilment.
the early sonic youth guitar stuff is practically his entirely with thurston blooming a little later. i shudder to think what would have happened if lee had never been born.
i have this vinyl of his called "from here to infinity" which is awesome. basically 12 tracks built around 12 crazy noises. the last track on one side (can't remember if it is a or b) has a groove at the end that takes it back a few seconds so the track plays for infinity (or at least the closing noise repeats forever).
we need more lee loving. |

yeah, apparently he's not the easiest person to work with either. But a lot of truly talented people are difficult. |
