| | | i wasnt there but i watched it on telly and found it very hard to find anything i was into! Maybe im old. But i do not get this new rave shite. I basically dont get any bands that Edith Bowman raves about - The Twang? WTF are they all about? The Erasure of the new millenium (but not as good).
The only band i saw that looked and sounded brilliant was The Lost Prophets. Trent singing Hurt was good too. |

The Twang are a terrible band with the worst name imaginable, The Unlistenable Twatcakes would be a far more appropriate name for them.

| | Leeds for me.
Stuff that was great: - Smashing Pumkins. I got nervous with the initial noodling (star spangled banner, wtf?) but they just about the best set I could really have expected.
- NIN. I really enjoyed them, Eraser was the highlight.
- Unkle. Closing the dance stage, that atmosphere was electric.
- Ed Byrne, and the geordie bloke before him.
Stuff I quite liked: - The Used. I liked the first album medely, even if Bert's "fukk ur parentz" stuff made me cringe.
- Jimmy Eat World. Not seen them before, main stage set was pretty much greatest hits. They seemed to be holding back a bit but I couldn't get a decent place in the tent they closed in.
- From Autumn To Ashes.
- Lost Prophets. Ever the professionals, they're like a genetically engineered festivals band.
- Dinosaur Jr. Although Mascis looks so scarily old
and the sound was ropey. - !!! were good & fun
- Ash did a really good set, didn't get close in enough to get totally swept away with it.
- The Living End. I've heard of these guys but didn't imagine them to sound anything like that. Caught the last 20 minutes of their set half of which was a jam session that utterly ROCKED, I have to come back to this band at some point.
Indifference Corner: - Razorlight. I thought they'd be a good festival band but they were just dull.
- Interpol, Maximo Park & Arcade Fire. I'm lumping these together as I don't think a festival is a good environment for them, I need to be distraction free for this sort of thing.
- Get Cape..., just a bit dull really.
Suck My Shit And Die: - RHCP. The fact I can remember these being relevant & energetic makes me feel like Methuselah. Their age has caught up so badly, they should seriously pack it in.
- Panic At The Disco. These have grown on me from hearing them out so much but what a phoned-in performance.

| | I went to Reading festival for the day yesterday. It was 10 years since the first time i went (I only missed 2 years i think out of the 10) so it was a special day!
My only reason for going was NIN and i was so so so impressed with the set. They totally blew me away! Id go with that being the 2nd best time i have ever seen them!!
Was a tad annoyed that the Gallows were on the same time though, really wanted to see them again!!!

| | | Smashing Pumpkins and NIN were great. A lot of the bands I was indifferent to, love New Young Pony Club, CSS, Charlotte Hatherley, Shiny Toys Guns, but their performances at times lacked atmosphere. I think I'm just a small venue girl at heart. |

| | Patrick wolf @ leeds without a doubt-
probably the best gig ive EVER been to.
Just a realy great atmosphere n i think the fact that it was in the carling tent which is realy small made it so much more intimate truly amazing!
also really liked kings of leon, interpol, cold war kids and sunshine underground too. But was realy dissapointed with bloc party - just a complete and utter snoozefest tbh |

Kings of Leon & Patrick Wolf, amazing.
Pleasantly surprised by Albert Hammond Jr, he was pretty good. |

| | | highlights for me= kings of leon!!!!!! interpol, hot hot heat, albert hammond jr, derek meins, ed byrne, patrick wolf, we are scientists, lost prophets (weirdly, when they started playing i thought he was so annoying and talked to much but he got really funny towards the end, and last train home&shinobi vs dragon ninja were great).
sunshine undergorund, maccabees and cold war kids all in a row was pretty good too.
massively dissapointed by bloc party. i've seen them live a couple of times in the past and they were pretty good but thought they were really dull this time. |

| | I went to reading for the day on sunday...couldnt afford a weekend ticket this year
NIN were by far the best band of the day, followed by fall out boy. they are always a fun band at festivals.
Pumpkins were good but i was feeling like shit during them so i sat out.
biggest disappointment for me were the Used. I am a huge fan but thats twice ive seen them this year and theyve just been so dull. and his digs at MCR make me think that he is a little bitter his once best friend got clean and is now one of the biggest names in music right now, and he didnt clean up and is halfway up the bill |
