| | lyrics for ruby throat, the ventriloquist or match stick girl aren't posted anywhere but none of that stuff has been released yet. i'm REALLY excited about ruby throat though. i completely adore her. and queen adreena is releasing TWO albums next year!! (studio album and b-sides/rarities i think).
katie jane is doing an exhibit at 'the woom' of some of her pieces or art. i saw photos taken by someone who went but it didn't look too exciting. she is lovely though . |

There's a pretty comprehensive biography on this site.
I'm glad Katie gets her very own thread on here, and yes, the Ruby Throat songs definitely are lovely. I miss the animation that used to be displayed as Katie's site intro by the way...
I see the Lesions In The Brain comic book hasn't been cited so far, anyone else excited by this to be unveiled as well? |

she's my favourite artist. seems so lovely and interesting in interviews.
and for whoever asked ruby throat is like.. eerie folk or. i don't know? check out the myspace page for them. completely worth it. |

| | | Love QA, keep listening!
I've got a few of the RT tracks, they're obviously less heavy than QA, but still have that wonderful voice on, full of innocence and there's some sort of fragility about her voice as well. And it's great to sing to!
She's a big inspiration to me musically.... |

| | | i love daisy chainsaw (or at least the record she sang on-- eleventeen) but you can really tell she didn't write the lyrics or music. i think that's mostly why i like qa more. i like her style of writing more than crispin's. |

It is so called Lalleshwari - Lullabies In A Glass Wilderness.
The very first edition of this was limited to 300 copies and consisted in a CD along with a DVD featuring four short films directed by both KatieJane and James Sutton (the British photographer at the origin of the artwork of The Butcher And The Butterfly, and who directed the promo version of the band's video for single Medicine Jar, among other numerous implications, and very nice by the way), and sort of an art book with collages and lyrics of KatieJane's.
And given these naturally sold out super quickly, a second edition (only featuring the CD part of the whole lot though) was released last summer (meaning, in 2006), on which track 13 of the original pressing, Play For Us, no longer appears, and is replaced by two new songs, Marybell (rides into town on pig) and In The Birdcage pt.1. Marybell [...] has particularly noticeable references to Anais Nin's poetry, and In The Birdcage is actually an altered version of a collaboration between KatieJane and Ben Golomstock (Miranda Sex Garden). She indeed appears on three songs from his album, also released last year, entitled Stories From The Moon.
I'll post these in the mp3 sharing thread if anyone's interested |

| | | as far as i know lalleshwari is a collection of work she had done over 6 years. which is why it doesn't have much flow to it and the songs are so varying. i really enjoyed it though. they're intending on doing the limited edition deal with ruby throat as well. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
