Seriously. "I'll Be Your Mirror?" Yeah. Apparently the VU were upset with her in the recording studio, because she wasn't singing it to their liking, and she began to cry, and that's the version they ended up using. Whatever the case, it worked.

I wouldn't say I find Lou Reed's voice particularly SAD, though. However, his music does put me in a mood. And it ain't a sunshiny one.

I'll Be Your Mirror is sad for the above reason.

Pale Blue Eyes, The Kids, and Caroline Says are defintely the most depressing. I think that The Kids was about Nico because Nico always said she was raped by a black Air Force Sargent and there's that line

And all of the things that they heard she had done
The black Air Force Sargent was not the first one and
All of the drugs she took
Every one, every one

Nico's son was also "taken away" and adopted by Delon's mother because they didn't think Nico was capable of raising him which some say is when her her heroin addiction began.

I was just listening to Candy Says, which is such a brilliant downer, but I don't think the song is depressing because of the voice singing it.

I feel like a lot of the songs he sings and writes are like that, but I can't tell if I think these songs are sometimes uplifting because I love them so much that they make me feel more content when I hear them.

Personally I find "How Do You Think It Feels" and "Perfect Day" to be the saddest Lou Reed songs. I find them both pretty hopeless in general. They are my two favorite songs by him though!
