R.E.M. should really be #1 as nobody can touch their insanely brilliant string of 90's albums.

Nirvana were a great band, but all they really did was start a trend and inspire shit like Bush, Candlebox and the Vines.

Whereas R.E.M. are far more diverse and inspired Nirvana, Radiohead and countless other bands.

A lot of great bands there (yay at the mention of Suede without "The London" attached as a prefix), I don't know if I would've put Nirvana at #1 though. If Kurt Cobain hadn't died, they would be somewhere in the 30s probably.

I assume they did that because the Pixies released their best work in the 80s, and broke up in 1993......but yeah.....good call.
