I am seriously in a music funk. Nothing has excited me in a while. Long while. Basically the only band I can listen to is The Smiths. Everything else is just really blah and I have to turn it off after a couple of songs.

The mp3 thread was cool when I was looking for particular stuff, but it doesn't necessarily work for me because I'd much rather it be a real recommendation thread...where people put effort into a sort of review. Did a comparison with other bands. I don't know, just more.

Am I asking too much? Is asking to be amazed too much?

i was feeling the lack too but didn't want to make a whiney thread about it. i have a problem with listening to music serially. i'll be interested in a band, buy the album, and then never listen to it again. forget i even own it. so little music is seductive anymore. i don't hit the repeat button like i used to. i don't get as buzzed over live performance anymore either. i think i'm getting OLD

You just need to open your ears more. There is LOADS of good stuff out there! Old stuff is brilliant too, just listen honestly. If you seriously think there is nothing left for you, then music, was seriously, never your 'thing' in the first place.

i thought this thread was about funk music; i was about to get all ethnic on you.

but i agree. music is really shitty these days. to the pt where i enjoy fergie's most recent attempt.
