i'm new to both of these artists, i've started listening thanks to kittyradio(esp. to carter, from whom i believe i DLed a number albums, thanks!  )
they strike me as similar, in terms of sound and maybe some themes too. do you agree?
so who do you prefer? i can't really decide. although i'm not sure if i've heard any single bright eyes song as good as 'the upper penninsula'. that song is so amazing.
if it matters, i'm basing my comparison on sufjan: seven swans & michigan. and bright eyes : lifted & wide awake. maybe if i haven't heard other stuff i'm totally miss judging the comparison. |

i don't see that much of a comparison, because i find bright eyes a lot more depressing and sufjan a lot more experimental with his instruments. i do like both, but maybe i'm a bit sufjan biased.

I don't think I would like Bright Eyes if I didn't like the lyrics as I am not particularly fond of his vocal tone. I like Illinois the best I think. I was a bit disappointed with the Rosie Thomas album and the cover of the Sufjan REM cover.

bright eyes is good, but i dont know i think he has some dud songs. plus his voice annoys me alittle. |

| | | Sufjan, definitely, not by a "Who's Better?" theme but by who I listen to more, and I don't listen to Bright Eyes at all. But putting them both in a cage for 7 weeks with aphrodisiacs in their food and no clothes would be fine too. |
