Spoon ( a really good band)

Jase introduced me to this band a while ago and I was very impressed with them.

Spoon Ready New Album, Re-Releases

Story by: Paul Haney

Spoon are back in the studio readying a new record, the follow-up to last year's acclaimed Gimme Fiction. Scheduled for 2007, it may actually see release early next year if recording goes as expected. Interestingly, Spoon is perhaps looking to expand their sonic template with "a number of new instruments to incorporate into the arrangements." Frontman Britt Daniel tells Billboard that the band is "busy looking for instruments we've never played before. So far we have an electric harpsichord, a bunch of harmonicas and these weird Japanese instruments. We want [the new record] to be wild. We want to do something we haven't done before." For a quicker fix, fans may be happy to hear that their long out-of-print first LP Telephono will be re-issued along with the Soft Effects EP (both originally released on Matador and currently commanding pretty high Ebay prices) on one CD via Merge. If that's not enough, Daniel is also working on a solo record. Still want more? There's even the potential for Spoon to tour with "an unnamed 'big' band," whoever that may be. Nickelback, maybe? Let's hope not.

I was listening to Kill the Moonlight this morning. Spoon is fantastic.

Why the hell does everyone keep touring with Pearl Jam?

My guess is Radiohead.

I love that song Turn My Carmera on but I don't really care for the rest of their music. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.

I only guess pearl jam, cause spoon seems to be involved with the whole sleater-kinney peeps. Plus Britt Daniel has moved to Portland so eddie vedder gets dibs on all peeps in the northwest.

I'll also throw out the guess of....coldplay (*shudder*)
