why does Lucinda Williams slur so badly when she sings?

did she get part of her tongue bitten out in a bar fight once?

i'm sure i'm not the only one who has wondered about this.

chan marshall has a hint of the Lucinda drawl in some of her songs.

I dont know but it's gotten increasinly more prominent over the years. She slurs even worse when she just talks though.

I love her slur.
