Organizers of the second US Virgin Festival in Baltimore, MD, have expanded the event to two days this August, and have announced a whopper of an initial lineup: The Police, Smashing Pumpkins and Beastie Boys.
The Police are touring for the first time in 21 years, the Pumpkins are back for the first time since 2000 and the Beastie Boys will make their first East Coast appearance in two years.
More acts and on-sale dates for the Aug. 4-5 event will be revealed in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
"Right now, I'm putting together the lineup that will just be A-list from start to finish, on both stages and in the dance tent," promoter Seth Hurwitz said in a statement.
The festival, which is returning to the historic Pimlico Race Course, will again offer many forms of entertainment, including art installations and performance art, as well as information from non-profit organizations.
Virgin Group chief Richard Branson, who created the UK-based V Festival, also noted that the event will be eco friendly, "supporting Virgin Group's ongoing commitment to attacking the causes of global warming."
The debut US Virgin Festival, held last September, drew more than 45,000 fans to see 20 bands on two stages and in a giant dance tent, according to a press release.
