PJ Harvey, Lou Reed, The Fall, Happy Mondays, Kanye West to play Manchester Festival

Email i got today - shucks i wanna see Polly! It's been too long but Manchester is far! Maybe i should go visit pretty polly..?

"We are pleased to announce that Polly will perform as part of the Manchester International Festival which runs from June 29th – July 15th. Currently the only UK date confirmed; Polly will take a break from recording to perform an intimate solo set at the Bridgewater Hall on July 7th.

Tickets go on-sale to the general public on March 30th.

The show is part of the Festival's International Music Series, which over the two weeks, includes the UK premiere performance of Lou Reed's seminal album Berlin, a one-off performance by hip-hop star Kanye West, and showcases by Bert Jansch with Beth Orton and Bernard Butler.

In addition two of Manchester's iconic bands will perform at the Ritz – Happy Mondays; and The Fall will play a one-off gig to launch a new book inspired by their lyrics - Perverted by Language. The line-up also includes experimental Glasgow rockers The Blue Nile in their only UK show and first show in seven years; and Cataluńyan innovators Ojos De Brujo. William Orbit will premiere his specially commissioned Orchestral Suite for the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Chamber Choir. More information on the festival is available at www.manchesterinternationalfestival.com"
