Babyshambles fans split over arena tour

Babyshambles fans split over arena tour

Punters react to Pete Doherty's biggest ever gigs

Babyshambles fans have been reacting in their droves to the latest announcement from the band that they will embark on an arena tour in November.

In a move that has clearly split fans of the band down the middle, news that Babyshambles will play giant venues including London's Wembley Arena, NME.COM has received a barrage of comments both in support and against the jaunt.

Speaking in support of Pete Doherty, one fan argued, "The guy puts bums on seats, sells papers or NME and will have no trouble in filling venues with genuine music lovers".

The news has equally instigated numerous uncertain messages from loyal fans who have questioned the enormity of the large arena tour.

One fan from Scotland joked "the best part will be the thousands and thousands of refunds they have to give out when Pete inevitably goes off on some bender and most of the tour is cancelled!".

Another vented: "Pete was obviously high on something when he booked this tour. Everyone knows arena tours are shite at the best of times, the sound is always crap and the stage is a million miles away".

A similar sentiment was echoed by another NME.COM user who added, "I'm having trouble picturing how Pete's stage presence will have the same effect in such an environment."

The tour itself sees the band playing the following dates:

Manchester MEN Arena (November 22)
Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (23)
Brighton Centre (25)
Bournemouth International Centre (26)
London Wembley Arena (27)
Birmingham NIA (28)
Nottingham Arena (30)
Glasgow SECC (December 1)

Tickets are due to go on sale on March 22 at 9am.

Why will he not come over to the states? He'll come over for rehab and for Kate but not for his fans? Such bullshit

he can't get a work visa right now because of his drug convictions. It's different if you're coming to rehab or just to visit - he can do that, but he can't legally come work here at the moment, because of the drug stuff. There's a chance if he can show improvement, he might get approved at some point, but it wont be anytime soon, unfortunately.

Good point. I just figured since he had been over here the past year, he had been given his Visa back.
I guess the only way I'll be seeing him is I make a trip to England.
If they would announce the UK tour dates far enough in advance I'd make arrangements. With my luck, he wouldnt show up

I agree with the person who commented regarding the massive numbers of refunds that are likely to come as a result of him choosing crack over his fans as usual!

I have a work colleague who travelled from Aberdeen all the way down to Glasgow a couple of times to see Babyshambles, and every single time, he cancelled, causing my colleague to lose a hell of a lot of money from the likes of train travel and overnight accommodation.

A nice little picture left on my colleague's bebo whiteboard...
