| | | Hope a repost is okay... My celebrity meeting was with Marilyn Manson (whole band but Marilyn mostly). I drove down to St. Louis for a concert & signing in celebration of Holy Wood coming out. I wore his devil horns tee and he stared at me in line and did the devil horns at me. When I got to him, I didn't even talk for like 30 seconds, haha. He stuck his hand out for me to shake and I just stared at it. I brought him a rare porn magazine he was on the cover of for a feature with pornstar Marilyn Starr for him to sign and a lunchbox from when I was a kid. He said he already had it and signed both things, even though right before, his security guard yelled at me that only one signing was allowed per person. I had grabbed a bunch of promo stuff and slipped them into the magazine. Ginger Fish decided to look at the porn and all my stuff fell out but I was already on cloud nine so I didn't care. It was nice. It was one of the best days.
God I'm such a for him... |

| | | I met Chan Marshall before a show she played in San Luis Obispo, CA in 2003. She'd been walking around the parking lot, crying of course, asking the groovy hipster kids for a cigarette to no avail. I don't know if they didn't recognize her or what, but fortunately my friend did, and we followed her out to her van and gave her a cigarette. She was crying pretty heavily, and we pretty much told her anyway how excited we were to see the show, and how much her music meant to us, and she was like, "Oh my God...*blubber blubber*....thank you for coming! I'm sorry.....I can't talk right now. *blubber blubber*....Thanks for coming...." That was pretty much it. I had taken a lot of Xanax, but I still remember it clearly. Very surreal. And it turned out to be a great show.
And I smoked a bowl once with the guy from the Gossip while I was living in Portland, but I don't really like them, so.....doesn't count.... |

| | i've met Joan Jett a bunch of times - she's always been so nice to me. i used to bring her huge bouquets of flowers at every show, & she remembers me from the old days. i'd always be so excited to see her - i met her for the second time at a pride festival & i asked for a kiss instead of an autograph - i said that i'd never forget it & she let me kiss her cheek.
i'm still as big a fan of hers as ever. |

| | I met Carl Barat and Gary Powell from the Libertines. Gary was great - he walked into the bar my friend and I were in, and we walked up to him and the first thing I said was "Gary - it's almost last call!!" lol.. he said "I know, I know, it was hard getting out of the venue". We hung out a bit, Gary, me, my friend Ena and this other girl who was at the show...but the bar was closing and there was no booze, which really sucked. We went outside for a bit and I got a picture with him (I put my arm around his waist and goddamn, his body is like, hard as a ROCK).
I'll probably get called fat for this pic, but oh well.. this was last August at a Dirty Pretty Things gig.
I don't talk about meeting Carl much - it was special to me and it's just not for here, you know? But he was lovely.

| | | Brian I forgot this until this morning:
I met Spacehog in 1995. My friends and I somehow manipulated ourselves into a sold out show at a place in Ybor City called the Rubb (RIP, it closed a while back). We ended up visiting with them by their tour bus, they were mad friendly. I believe Royston (the gentleman married to Liv Tyler) said I had a pretty name, they were really gracious to us. Generally a pretty positive experience. I met Nada Surf as well with some friends, they were nice guys as well. Other than talking to some musicians I like here and there I can't think of anything else really.

| | | the best person i met was wayne coyne.
last summer i went to see the flaming lips at 02 wireless festival. me and my friend after the flaming lips had played, were wondering around the back area drunk, trying to persuade security men let us backstage. but they wouldnt.
randomly we ended up speaking to a man, just a random man who was hanging around. so there we were whining to him about how much we wanted to say hi to wayne coyne. this man we had randomly harrassed turned out to be their tour manager, and he was like "if i give you both backstage passes promise not to be annoying, behave" aha how fucking LUCKY and weird that was. so he took us round the back and gave us lots of free expensive beer and we got to speak to the flaming lips for ages, wayne gave me this massive speech and i cried LOLOL. he was rambling on about his weird hippy world shit. but i cant remember much of what he said as i was off my head. we didnt get any photos, gr
