White Stripes Sign to Warner Bros.
Wayne Coyne, Doug Martsch, other Warner indie rockers join Jack and Meg for "We're Going to Be Friends" singalong
As first reported by Billboard.com, and confirmed by the band's publicist,
the White Stripes have signed to
Warner Bros. Records.
Jack and Meg's former North American home,
V2,
collapsed last month, but the Stripes' contract had expired before the downfall. Unlike the Stripes' situation at V2, the Warner Bros. deal does not involve Jack White's sub-label
Third Man, which released albums by Whirlwind Heat and White's other band
the Raconteurs. It is a one-album deal, and only applies to North America.
The best part? All of this means that there's a new White Stripes album in the works. Yes!
