I mean, honestly. You can search all you want for someone with an amazing voice - And Fantasia is a good example of this - And that may mean stellar sales for the debut but that doesn't get you shit after that damn sophomore slump does it? I mean honestly, these huge, powerful voices are so overrated. In fact, they annoy me because I feel like a lot of those singers constantly sing as though they have something to prove.
Of course big voices work for some people - Like Shirley or Jewel. But these people, you can just tell they have amazing voices and they don't have to prove shit. But people like Fantasia, who have no real control over their careers or what they're doing and don't have much to say will come and go. And the same happened IMO with Clay and Reuben.
Kelly was different but that's because she has some artistic integrity and Carrie Underwood is a country star and she is marketed perfectly IMO. But honestly, when people buy a record, they don't always wants a perfect voice. We at kittyradio OBVIOUSLY fall into that bunch. And honestly, the whole idea behind American Idol is just dumb to me. Why not try to find people with eclectic talent and wits?

But American Idol is a horrid example of music for so many other reasons. And this is coming from someone who doesn't watch the show anyways, so none of that "But I totally love whatsherface." The show sucks and I won't watch it, it's just pathetic.

But I'll have to watch it sometime this year, I know someone will force me. May God have mercy upon their souls.
