I'm listening to Fever by Kylie Minogue and I just think it's amazing. I think it's amazing music that can respected in its own right. I also feel the same about anything by Madonna.

Like I was watching the True Blue and Vogue videos today and I was like "my god those are killer songs".

I don't feel the same with stuff like N'Sync and Christina Aguilera, I think they suck.


I mean what is good pop music??? what makes it different from bad 100% commercial pop? Can it be art??

I'm in the mood to discuss pop, even brainless love dance songs, are they art?? can they be compared with huge rock songs?? what do you think??

Everyone gives Gwen Stefain a hard time but I think L.A.M.B was fucking genius. I mean every song was great when it comes to composition and the "pop form" or whatever.

Throwaway, but not actually trash. It's a fine line that I'd swear was crossed (well crossed in the right direction) less and less often.
There's presumably an art to making a great pop single (because it seems fucking difficult for anyone to do these days), but it's not supposed to be great art. Pretentious pop is vulgar, and usually unlistenable.

I think "Band of Gold" by Freda Payne is close to the perfect pop song. Of more recent hue, maybe something like "Push the button" by Sugababes? Good Michael Jackson is perfect pop.
Nelly Furtado's reinvention was (mostly) handled classily, and I think made for some pretty decent pop music.

I'm ambivalent about Britney Spears. I feel most of her music is right down there with N Sync and Xtina, you know that type of music people only buy because MTV says it's cool, but then I listen to Toxic and it's just an amazing song-

I think L.A.M.B. was trash, however. Well, most of it. An overproduced mess. Please don't throw in the kitchen sink, unless it takes out a few fucking harajuku girls/boys/whatever.
