Shows kick off in Houston and dates have recently been added in Oakland, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Toronto, Ontario; Hartford, CT; and Raleigh, NC. The outing--which features The Pussycat Dolls in the opening slot, as well as Dainty Kane on US shows--so far takes the pop star into May. The itinerary is listed below.
The "Back to Basics" tour features "a unique stage design that will allow Christina's fans unprecedented access to the stage with unbelievable sight lines," according to a press release, which added that concert-goers can look forward to three distinct stage scenes illuminated with more than 600 moving lights and a state-of-the-art hydraulic system.
"Back to Basics," Aguilera's latest album, was released in August and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The double CD, described on the singer's
website as "a modern take on vintage jazz, soul and blues from the 1920s, '30s, '40s and beyond," has since been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Pop Vocal Album category. The first single from the record, "Ain't No Other Man," is also up for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
The second single from the album, "Hurt," is currently making an impact on radio charts. Both singles and a couple of other songs from the record are streaming at Aguilera's MySpace
page.
In mid-December, Wal-Mart began selling an exclusive "Back to Basics" package that includes a DVD documentary with several videos and a behind-the-scenes look at the album photo shoot.
Fans can also catch Aguilera on the cover of Glamour magazine this month.
