In late 2006, it was announced that Paul Wall was, with other Hip-Hop names, remixing the album as Nevermind: Chopped and Screwed By DJ Paul Wall by Nirvana and Paul Wall, a Hip-Hop take on Nirvana's classic, gaining a controversial reaction from fans. The object is apparently to "Push the limits of what is accepted in music" as Vig, who also worked on the project, has stated. It hits stores on February 27.
Courtney Love has supported the genre-bending project, saying that "This is a side of that album no one's ever seen and I think it's quite a revalation...It blew down the doors the first time it came out, and now it's going to do it again...I think it's great. People are going to be blown away by this new interpretation of the album, and the things it represents." So far, 3 of the remixes have geen leaked to the internet: remixes of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Lithium", and "Drain You". However, Wall says the "Lithium" remix is a different one than will be used on the album.
Anyone heard 'em?
