top 10 year end lists anyone?

I'll go first:

1. Neko Case-Fox Confessor...; this is great, her voice, music, everything...perfect for every season, seriously summer spring fall winter.
2. My Brightest Diamond- Bring Me the Workhorse; spooky and serious and her voice is great
3. Eux Autres- Hell is Eux Autres; garage pop with french and english lyrics, really a great summer album
4. Tapes N' Tapes- The Loon; I think this was released last year but what the hell I got into it this one so there. Great hometown band. MN represent!
5. Mates of State- Bring it Back; poppy wife and husband (and now baby!) duo. They can really write a catchy tune.
6. The Decemberists- The Crane Wife; Not my favorite band ever but I like this one a lot.
7. Sonic Youth- Rather Ripped; most closley related to dirty or goo; wasn't the album I was expecting they'd make but it's good.
8. The Hold Steady- Boys and Girls in America; Craig Finn has a distinct voice and point of view. Chug a beer d00ds!! They were from the old minneapolis area too. At least most of them were in lifter puller.
9. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Show Me Your Bones; not my favorite album, it's solid but not grab you fantastic, still I played this a lot and enjoy that they did something different.
10. Joanna Newsom-Ys; to be perfectly frank I haven't heard most of this album, but if it's as good as Only Skin then it's great.

Other good things about the year:
graduation, new job, a car, the office, new order, baking, the green room

man "only skin" is ****ing amazing. the highpoint of a terrific record.

to be honest there are very few records i've listened to and even liked this year

1. joanna newsom - ys: i could go on and on about how brilliant this record is, but i'm lazy
2. neko case - fox confessor brings the flood: my god that voice
3. belle and sebastian - the life pursuit: muscletwee
4. benoit pioulard - precis: sighing boys will always have a leg up to my ears

others
jenny lewis - rabbit fur coat: sounds great, atrocious lyrics
the walkmen - a hundred miles off: mostly good tunes, but not memorable
tvotr - return to cookie mountain: i remember thinking it was great when i first heard it, haven't listened to it since
cat power - the greatest: do heroin again, chan
built to spill - you in reverse: kickass first song, forgettable rest
the strokes - first impressions of earth: strokes records shouldn't last longer than 35 minutes
yyys - show your bones: i wanted more aggression i suppose
isobel campbell/mark lanegan - ballad of the broken seas: good ambiance
danielson - ships: sufjan's 15319345th album this year alone
morrissey - ringleader of the tormentors: i miss the smiths

Oh, how I love to make lists!

Somewhat in order:

Camera Obscura-Let's Get Out this Country (gorgeous, exuberent instrumentation. Great melodies with down-trodden lyrics. It's like Tracyanne Campbell got in my head and wrote songs out of it)

Blood Brothers-Young Machetes (better than the first two, not quite as good as the last two)

Neko Case- Fox Confessor Brings the Flood (really, what can be said about that voice that hasn't already been said? And to top it off, the songs are great too)

Liars- Drum's Not Dead (Liars continue to impress me. Best band making music today)

Fiery Furnaces- Bitter Tea (I wanna be Eleanor Friedberger!)

TV on the Radio- Return to Cookie Mountain (this album would be album of the year for me if all the songs were as brilliant as "Wolf Like Me" and "Wash the Day")

Sonic Youth- Rather Ripped (I love power pop and I love SY but the combo doesn't thrill me. However, "Reena" and the fact that it's SY puts it in the top 10 for me)

Mates of State-Bring It Back (Just when I thought I was sick of keyboard led bands, along comes this album)

Cat Power- The Greatest (better than the last one, and "The Moon" makes me want to sit in a dark corner and slit my wrists, while drinking whiskey)

Islands- Return to the Sea (It's no Unicorns, but I'll take it)

These would likely make the top 10 if I had more time with them:

Joanna Newsom
Yo La Tengo
White Magic
