robbie fined for onstage fag Robbie Williams proved rock 'n' roll is alive last night by breaking the law on stage in front of 52,000 people in Australia.
Did the bad boy eat a bat's head like Ozzy Osbourne?
Did he set himself on fire and dive into the crowd naked like Celine Dion?
Nope, our rebel Robbie enjoyed a cigarette, breaching Queensland's smoking in public places legislation.
The millionaire rock rebel faces severe police punishment: a $150 fine.
Our Pop Revenge spy told us "Robbie was enjoying some fun chat with the crowd and then he just lit up, he said he was well aware of the smoking ban but he had not been able to quit, he said he had tried many times and not been able to. Robbie seemed to find the whole thing very amusing."
The UK public smoking ban starts on July 1st so Robbie will be able to continue his 'crazy' behaviour in every bar in the land.
Australian health officials reacted angrily, claiming Robbie was sending 'a very bad message to young fans' and encouraging a habit which kills millions.
Robbie's accountant will be relieved to know he could even escape the $150 penalty, concert organisers Ogden refused to confirm whether they would issue the fine to the young 'hellraiser'.
Our Pop Revenge mole told us the concert was otherwise a success "It was a huge show and Australia has now fallen in love with Robbie, he proved he could perform on the biggest platform, he has won a lot of respect."
Particularly with the tobacco industry no doubt.
