LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY; ‘TILL THE END OF TIME’, WRITTEN BY NICK URATA OF DEVOTCHKA EXPRESSLY FOR LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, NOMINATED FOR A SATELLITE AWARD; EARLY PICKS FOR GOLDEN GLOBE AND ACADEMY AWARDS.

New York, NY – December 11, 2006: Nominations for the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced just a few days ago, and the LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Lakeshore Records), scored by underground up-and-comer DeVotchKa, is among the contenders for ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media’.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the directors of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, invited Colorado quartet DeVotchKa to score this hilarious and heartfelt film along with celebrated composer Mychael Danna. DeVotchKa’s unique instrumentation pairs perfectly with the film’s quirky characters, played by an award-winning ensemble including Alan Arkin, Abigail Breslin, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Paul Dano and Greg Kinnear. The bulk of the soundtrack is DeVotchKa’s score work, a new DeVotchKa song penned specifically for the film, “Till the End of Time,” and a number of tracks originally found on the group’s highly acclaimed record How It Ends. The soundtrack also features two songs by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens and a track from legendary Rick James.

The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on February 11th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (CBS from 8–11:30pm ET/PT).

In addition, ‘Till the End of Time’, a song written expressly for LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE by Nick Urata of DeVotchKa, has been nominated for a Satellite Award for ‘Best Original Song’. Presentation of the 11th Annual Satellite Awards will be held on December 17th at Le Meridien Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. DeVotchKa are also considered early picks for Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for their work on the film. DeVotchKa is on tour now.
