| | | If you had a time machine... If you had a chance to go to the past (no matter how: Santa’s present, or time machine, or else – depends on your imagination ) to visit just ONE concert (of a band that doesn’t exist anymore), what would it be?
As for me, I think it would be the Beatles’ legendary show at Shea stadium in 1966.
Or maybe not… Hard to chose... I have to think about it

- Nirvana

- Brendan Benson
I'd also like to take a visit at CBGB's around the 70's when punk was happening. :P |

| | | Just one? Oh God. Probably some Smiths concert somewhere. Or maybe Kate Bush, although she still exists. Just hasn't toured since about 1979.
I would travel by TARDIS, or not at all.

| | | Rolling stones with brian jones, maybe at the eeling club when they were all BABIES and mick was stil dating that shrimpton model and brian started dating anita and dylan was taking speed and stayed up all niht in a hotel rom with marianne, when andrew loog oldham was still -what?- 17 and they had they banner "would you let your sister date a stone?"
but the fact of the matter was that they were still very much good boys back then. marianne was still "an angel with titts"
I say the stones in their incarnation- right after that whole stupid blues incorporated thing.
Oh or I would see patti smith at St. Marks Cathedral when lenny kay FIRST joined her with a guitar. They say she ripped up her poem paper and threw it at the audience and hurled a chair across the room.
I would have loved to see that david bowie show where mick ronson is above ziggy and ziggy is between his legs with his arms hold his ass(??) and he is biting/licking the guitar at his crotch- oh you know- the famous mick rock picture - it was recreated in velvet goldmine
What about iggy pop? who would have loved to see iggy light himself on fire and roll around in glass?
Actually anyshow I pick would have to be a CBGB's show (they just closed, take a moment to mourn everybody?) because then you know I'd be sititng in a crowd of people who I would one day (when Im born) grow up to worship .
it would be the whole package. I would see a three show act that may would include the hearbreakers, iggy pop, the dictators and you know everybody would be in the crowd, patti, legs, sabel starr (yeah the groupies too) hilly crystal, john hostrum, mc5 guys, tom verlain, andy warhol, malcom mclaren, mick jagger, keif richards, you know everyfucking body would be there.
my #2 in this same vain would be The Filming of Rock N Roll circus. Ill pass on altamont but maybe the monterey pop festival... maybe.
Sorry I really couldn't just pick one.. how could I ?
I have to say tho if I had a time machine I wouldn't use it to see some sband play, I would use it to meet one of my two heros one of them being zelda fitgerald- and boy would WE DRINK??? |

| | | Oh wow I can only pick one? Ok well mine is a little different - I would want to go back and be Pamela Des Barres ( is that how you spell it?) backstage at any show during a time when groupies were cool in the 60's and early 70's - the people she got to hang with - sexually or not - and talk to.........amazing. |

| | | I'd would probably go to the Genitorturers show in Amsterdam where Gen was performing with a giant strap on (beer can size, or bigger) and it either fell off or she took it off, and left it on the stage. She tured around, turned back & a guy was squatting on it, lube free. |
