| Pet Shop Boys Tour U.S. PET SHOP BOYS:
TOURING IS FUNDAMENTAL
Iconic U.K. group tours the U.S. for the first time in four years in support of Fundamental, their ninth CD
The Pet Shop Boys are back in America for a whirlwind 22-city U.S. tour, their first in over four years. The group, who this year celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first smash hit, "West End Girls," will be traveling the country with their acclaimed stage show, designed by Es Devlin (National Theatre, English National Opera, Kanye West).
Pet Shop Boys' new album, "Fundamental" (released June 27 via Rhino), was produced by Trevor Horn and has been acclaimed as one of their best ever, the influential Popjustice.com writing that it is "the first great pop album of 2006. There are about a million reasons why. . . it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you want to have a little dance. . ." 'Q' magazine stated that "Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe return to the magnificently OTT disco pop of their heyday."
Fundamental is a lavish confection of dance, electro, lush balladry, atmospheric pop and occasional political satire: the recent UK hit "I'm with Stupid" satirizes the relationship between Tony Blair and another world leader, with whom he has often claimed to have a "special relationship."
The Pet Shop Boys also have a book, Catalogue, due out October 16th through Thames and Hudson USA. PopArt, their "best of" collection, will also finally see U.S. release this fall. It will be released October 3rd through Capitol Records.
