| | | Actually, Introspective, Behaviour...best streak of albums by anyone ever Behaviour is haunted. There are all these ugly apartment buildings all over the West End and I can't walk through that neighborhood without being reminded of all the people who have lived in those places and died of AIDS, and all the lovers and friends left behind.
Lovers and friends who might have gone on to die of AIDS themselves.
It sounds like the freshly scrubbed apartments of dead friends smell. Or the experience of cleaning your dead pal's place. I like bleach but before it turns and burns the inside of my nose. I like to keep the sheets.
My friend's are assholes, they all die in autumn. So many times I've been wrapped up in my cleaning that I look up and suddenly the late afternoon sun is already setting and leaking through the dead tree limbs outside. No symbolism intended, it's just ugly and gets me down. |

I'm Not Scared (F)
Always On My Mind (F)
Being Boring (C,F)
This Must Be the Place I've Waited Years To Leave (F)

| | | A song like "King's Cross" is so much more effective than something like "Hurt" by NIN (or even the Cash version) if you want to make yourself sad.
The best miserable songs by PSB aren't overdone at all. There's some atmosphere and the words and vocals are all quite matter of fact. I think if I had to bury somebody, once that was over I'd still feel if I bargain hard enough or make enough noise they won't really be gone. The saddest songs just accept what has happened. |

| | | I don't know if the thread title is true, but they are brilliant. Though I prefer Please to Introspective, so maybe it's the best streak of 4 albums ever.
Definitely the best streak of albums by a synth-pop duo, despite Erasure's best efforts. |

| | | A good pop band like Pet Shop Boys gets looked down on but a spastic retard like Juliette Lewis can serve up her digital misfires and shittings and everybody here gravitates towards her. Even though she can't write a half decent song to save her life.
Is Patty still in the band or has she found more lucrative ways to fianance her junk addiction? |

i could not agree more.
there is something about actually that still reeks of mid/late 80s denial regarding AIDS. its very cold, and arrogant but for some reason it still sounds very fresh to me, where as PSBs mid-late 90s shit doesnt. very is even sounding a bit dated now, too, which i didnt expect to ever feel. and then there is rent....
introspective and behavior though... what a pair. introspective at first glance seems like an EP but its so long and lush and behavior is just a grand moment in time. being boring and only the wind are two songs that even 16 years on still make my hair stand on end, especially being boring in its fiull album version.
just curious, do you like fundamental? |

i really like that song fugitive from the bonus disc though. | I am curious why fugitive was left off in favor of, say, luna park? ... but i like integral and minimal is pretty classic.
