Christina, Mariah and Beyonce are all talented singers. They might all be total slut flesh peddlers now, but only because they got noticed in the first place because of their singing ability.
Mariah wasn't even slutty for the first six or so years of her career. And going overly slutty nearly ruined her career. Same with Christina and that Dirrty song.
Louise is about as talented as any number of shitty bar band musicians. In fact, the only reason she has a career is because of the novelty factor of a band with two girls and a semi-interesting band name.
If they were guys, nobody would care. So they actually rely on gender more than Mariah and Christina, who both have impressive vocal ability. |
Here's where I will disagree with you.... Mariah and Christina can both sing. They can sing their asses off... Beyonce on the other hand... her voice makes me want to bash my head into a wall. Louise may not have the vocal chops of Mariah or Christina, but she has written some fairly decent to above average tunes, and she can play a mean guitar. The ending solo to Shutterbug was awesome. And Nina Gordon has a amazing voice, she may not have the octave range Mariah or Christina has, but her voice shows a lot more passion to me than the other two. Mariah, while being vocally gifted, always seems to over-sing her songs.
And yes, when Mariah first came out, she acted and looked like a somewhat normal girl, pretty and she could be sexy and then out of nowhere she got the idea she was black and wanted to look like some sort of ghetto hoodrat hooker..... and it just looked horrible. Same with Christina, who THANK FUCKING GOD, looks a helluva lot better these days.... I still have a feelings I'd get herpes if I just stood next to her though... and Beyonce is just a stupid cunt.
Give me Nina Gordon, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Courney Love(minus the crack), Alison Goldfrapp, Shirley Manson, Debbie Harry, Annie Lennox and Louise Post over all those other pop tarts any day....
I like musicians who can actually manage to write, play AND sing their own music.....
And if we REALLY wanna get into who can sing.... Annie Lennox or Sarah Brightman would fucking WIPE THE FLOOR with Mariah and Christina vocally....
