i saw them live at leeds festival and thought they were amazing.
i didnt want to buy a random album today for fear i could pick a crap one and ive tried searching on slsk for albums but the fall doesnt come up, so my question is, which do you guys think is the best album?
for searching and buying purposes !

yeah, the frenz experiment is a good starter-outer. Also, the totally wired comp is good if you haven't heard much.

I just posted about the fall in the other thread yesterday.

Seen The Fall on Tuesday and loved it! The more I listen to their early stuff, the more convinced I am that everything that's being done now has been already done 30 years ago.

Mark E Smiths is such a character! I also had an interesting discussion with a Fall fan on the way back. He said he read an article, that discussed whether mark e smith was a lyrical and musical genius or was he just one of those people who talk to themselves in the streets. I was rather surprised as I don't see much difference between the two categories.

Speaking of the albums, Grotesque (reissued with bonus tracks) is my most loved. (due to being the first one, I guess).

I have some CDs, including a live one with "Terry Waite Sez" which is my favorite song by them. I liked the one with "Cruisers Creek" and "LA" on it, I think from "This Nation's Saving Grace."

I want "This Nation's Saving Grace". I was in a record store angsting over which Fall CD to buy, but as they didn't have that one I didn't end up buying any of them. Finally got From The Choirgirl Hotel instead. And The Poets I, II and III by Bobby Womack, just for the hell of it.

But would have preferred the Fall. Sad.

BBC2 11.35pm, Friday 22nd September - BBC4 on BBC2 Originals : The Wonderful and Frightening World of Mark E Smith

The hour long documentary from 2005 finally gets it showing on non-digital TV. Features in-depth interviews with Mark, and contributions from Elena, the late John Peel, Grant Showbiz, Richard Boon, Alan Wise, Stewart Lee and a few ex-members and other music business types. Somewhat poignantly, a lot of it was recorded around the time of the group’s last Peel session in August 2005.

I watched this documentary and loved it! Very interesting, given that despite loving their music, I didn't really know that much about their history. The whole ballet thing was news to me.

Dammit. I don't think we get that show. They should put it on BBC World.
