Kaiser Chiefs to torch Peanut's hat

The band reveal tour plans before tonight's huge London show

Kaiser Chiefs have revealed they plan to use their biggest ever UK shows to send off their debut album - and a certain item of famous headwear.

The band who play London tonight at Alexandra Palace, say they are bidding farewell to 'Employment', before they will ceremonially cremate keyboard player Peanut's porkpie hat.

"I don't think we'll be that emotional," said drummer Nick Hodgson of the tour which winds up in the band's hometown of Leeds. "Peanut will be sad though 'cos we might torch his hat! I think it will feel pretty spectacular on the last night, being in our home town with so many people there. You can't really picture it until we're on stage."

Hodgson explained to NME.COM that the band had been looking forward to seeing an audience again after spending the last few months writing and rehearsing.

"We've got used to being at home and in our old rehearsal studio," he explained, "We've been doing some of the old things we used to do before we were signed in preparation (for the tour), but we'll probably not really realise we're on tour until we actually get on stage - then we'll freak out!"
