Reputation FAQ (work in progress)

How do i rep?
Click on the +/- symbol that is beside the post number of the post in question that you would like to give a rep point for. A pop up should appear asking you whether you want it to be positive or negative. A comment must be entered if the rep is negative.

Why can't I rep?/I don't see the symbol!
To give out reps you need to have a paid subscription. You can buy a subscription by clicking on the Paid Subscriptions link in your User CP. It costs US$20 for a yearly subscription and US$12 for a 6 month subscription.

How many points are my reps worth?
The amount of points that your positive and negative reps are worth depends on a how many posts you have, how long you've been here and how many reputation points you have.

Why does it say "You must spread..."?
You can only give out 20 reps per day and you have to rep 15 other people before you can rep the same person again. (This was the case pre-hack, can anyone confirm this via PM?)

What does a grey dot mean?
This means that the person that is pos/neg repping you doesn't have enough points to actually modify the amount of points you currently have. This also happens if the person repping has less than 50 posts.

Can I see the reps that I have given out?
You can't right now but this is something we're planning on implementing in the future.

The intention of being able to give reputation is to comment on the content of the post. You may give the post content a thumbs up or down based upon if you agree or disagree with what is being said.

However, it has come to our attention that the repping system is not being used as it was originally intended and is being abused. This system is not to be used to express your dislike for another member, to harrass or to intimidate. And if you think every single post a member makes is stupid and lame? You may always use the ignore function if seeing another member post throughout the day causes pain to your eyeballs. An infraction will be given to those abusing the repping system.
