so we got a letter in the mail with some pictures, it was addressed to the 3 families around here who have cats, us being one of them. It's like "It's bad enough you get your hands into cat shit when you're planting flowers blablabla but that cats shit on the roof of your car it's gone too far" with some pics of the cat shit.

seriously. what the hell? I understand their frustration, BUT:

1) I have two cats, of one I am sure she doesn't even go these people's house, let alone shit on their car. I'm pretty sure my other cat always does her thing in the bushes, she's really used to it by now. I always have seen her do it since she was a kitten.

2) the people right next to them have a cat, so it seems most probably that it's theirs that did it, or one of the MANY other (stray) cats in the surrounding (there's like always 5 cats in my backyard and I only hae 2)

3) what the hell do they want us to do? kill our cats?

they probably want you to keep the cats in the house. i would be careful since the neighbors might try to call animal control or something to get the cats off the street.

and they can't call animal control. It's extremely normal here (countryside in Belgium) to have your cats outside, they'd think it's "cruel" to keep the cats inside.

i have two cats (and othe people on my block have cats..) and there was a warning put on the mailbox a few months back that said someone was angry about the neighbourhood cats and was putting out a cat trap and the next day underneath my mothers truck my neighbours cat was lying there dead with blood coming out of its mouth.

I don't get why people get so pissy about cats. Fair enough, not everyone loves cats, but to go as far as sending out bitchy letters? Ridiculous. For one thing, they're one of the cleanest animals around, they usually go to great lengths to bury their shit (which is why I find it quite odd that a cat shit on the roof of a car. Odd...but very funny) so that it doesn't show.

Speaking of neighbours having poo issues, my deplorable excuse for a sister has deplorable excuse for a dog chiuhahas (so really deserves all that is coming to her in this story). Her dogs keep sneaking through the fence and pooing in the next door neighbours garden. They got angry and starting throwing human poo back over, which one of the genius dogs rolled in and brought into the house! Thank god she doesn't live with me.

I always keep my kitties in the house. I feel safer, since back in the day one of my cats that got out was eaten by a cougar. Also, if neighbors come around and complain that my cat did something like that, and I can say no, I keep my cats indoors.

You should just tell your neighbor that your cats didn't do it, but you'll try to watch the other cats in the neighborhood to make sure they aren't shitting on people's cars.

i hate neighbours who have to cause a fuss about everything though. i hate children, and yet i don't send letters to my neighbours telling them to gag their creations because they frigging squeal all day.

I was just posting in the "I hate other people's children" thread about the way the neighbours complain about our dog's barking, when their horrible children run riot, making just as much noise all the time.

Is there anything you've got on your neighbours? Do their children play right outside your front door and do your fucking head in, do they park their cars in your spot, play loud music, have parties - anything? Cos my mum's scared this mother's going to complain to the council about our dog. And next time I hear her moaning about my dog's barking, I'm going to tell her my dog will be silent the day her children play silently.

Alternatively, and this must be the most tempting option, tell your neighbours what po-faced miseries they are. We don't have a cat. But other people's cats wander into our garden and garage - we end up with pawprints up and down our windscreens, and yes - cat shit everywhere. It is a fact of life, and far worse things happen. These people need to GET LIVES.

yea, thaks for the help. We're afraid they'll put poison in their backyard and I will die if one of my cats dies cos they're seriously like my children. The youngest one (she's a year old, born on the 4th of july , I brought her home from California) is like a little baby who needs constant attention (I ca't sleep through the night because she actually starts crying next to my bed a few times per night to be pet) and she's also like a dog cos she follows me around and when I call her she comes running up to me and when we throw a mouse she actually goes to get it and takes it into her mouth and brings it back to us. lol. she's crazy. She's also like a chicken cos she sits like a chicken, and like a horse cos whe she gets all hyperactive she starts running around like crazy but she kinda gallops. haha. it's hilarious. we got the poor thing from a shelter. she was abandoned )

any way, we're gonna go talk to the neighbors, but I'm afraid I'll get all pissed off and start calling them names. lol.

yea, I understand, in california we also kept our cat inside so she wouldn't be eaten by the animals there, but we do't have any potentially dangerous animals here in belgium so everyone keeps their cats outside. it's very normal.

it's very indeed, ad seriously, the pictures were weird. it was not normal cat poo, it was way grosser than that, it was like a part of the cats gut came out or something....very very weird. like part of the intestines. seriously not normal so I'm thinking it was from a sick cat (definitely not one of ours, ). and the cat that did it is probably dead by now...

my cats are by the way very clean (like most cats) and since they were very small they've been using litter boxes, or when outside do their thing in the sad and spend hours covering it up

If you are really worried things could get nasty like this, go to the police. Certainly do if they actually threaten anything.
