| | *jealousy* if I had a lot of money, I would get a huge fish tank and fill it with lots of beautiful sea creatures. Sea horses & clown fish. The vegetardian in me wants to think thats wrong, but I wouldn't do it unless I had a HUGE tank.
Smiling blow fish too.
My current hobbies:
Work.
Making people smile.
Painting.
Writing.
Obsessing.
I want more quality hobbies.

Oh my god....you have no idea how much money this whole fish tank thing costs.
My husband has two salt water tanks. This last one we got, a 60 gallon tank:
Tank & Stand - $400
Saltwater - buck a gallon @ 60 gallons $60
Live Rock - $200 (Yes, for rocks)
Lights - $250
Live Sand - $60
Pumps(2) - $150 & $50
Filter - $150
Coral - anywhere from $40 to hundreds of dollars
Fish - anywhere from $3 to thousnads of dollars
It's a young tank, so we only have a Clown $20, 2 Bar Gobys $20 each, and a 6 Line Wrasse $20, Snails $10, Crabs $3 a piece, we have 6.
And the list goes on.....
It's wonderful to sit and relax and watch the tank....but christ, it's one expensive hobby. And practically every weekend we're at a fish store, buying something else for the tank.
So, that's his hobby. But it's worthwile. He wants a 220 gallon when we buy a house....
The SEAHORSES though.....we stand and watch them in the stores, because they're so beautiful. But we're terrified to buy some, because they're so delicate...we'd just feel awful if it died.
My hobbies are:
-Making Jewelry
-Pug Rescue
-Shepard Rescue
(I also donate some jewelry to the rescue groups, so they can sell them at their events and keep all the profits)
-Photography
-Is shopping a hobby? |

| | | I hate it because I don't think that I really have any hobbies whereas my boyfriend has a fair few. When I whinge at him that I am bored he says that I should get a hobby. I don't know what though, at the moment I am really very poor and can't afford anything to even start a hobby... |

| | | I love music and devote alot of my time to it. It's probably my first love, the main aspect of my life that I associate myself with. I listen to music in my room while tidying or doing my daily routine. I listen to music while walking. I play guitar and bass (used to play drums, accordian and tin whistle), and also dabble on keyboard. I'll pick up the guitar every second day or so and play away, either in my room or in front of the computer. I'd like to learn harmonica someday.
Art is a major hobby of mine. I'm mainly into pencil-drawing and I keep alot of sketchbooks. I intend to expand my artistic application to painting as well as drawing, as I don't paint very often. I also plan to try my hand at sculpture when the oppertunity arises (hopefully when I return to school to do Art).
I keep a journal where I write down a lot of my thoughts and poetry, accounts of the day or events in my life, sketches, anything I want to really.
I adore literature and read alot of books. Reading provides great escapism for me, and I love the thrill of absorbing myself in a really interesting novel. I also love poetry. I usually read in bed when I wake up, at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, and at random intervals throughout the week. When I don't have anything to read, I sometimes browse Wikipedia for interesting articles, or pick up a magazine. I like good movies too.
The internet consumes the monopoly of my free time, primarily this forum. I lurk another forum, chat to my friends on MSN, browse eBay and Amazon, have a look around the net, etc etc.
I like to go walking. There are these lovely woods near where I live, and every evening my mother drives me there and we walk the 2-mile route together. Even though I listen to my Jukebox while walking, I feel it's a great relief of stress. The route is very scenic, and it's nice to have a short break from lifestyle every day. At home, I'll walk 2 miles around town listening to my iPod. I recently bought a book on yoga, and I'm enjoying practising it in my room. I also promised myself that I'd do 30 sit-ups every morning, but usually I can't be arsed. I'm also very concsious of what I eat, and research the effects of nutrition on the body. I never eat anything unhealthy if I can avoid it. I guess you could say one of my hobbies is trying to look better and feel better.
I tend to put alot of time into maintainance. If my room is untidy, I'll feel stressed, as though my mind is in disorder. I've started lighting incense and burning oils/candles to make the atmosphere more tranquel in my room. Occasionally, I'll re-arrange the things in my room to make me feel better. When I get up in the morning, I'll tidy the kitchen and living room because I feel like my family will be in a better mood if their surroundings aren't disordered.
I find word puzzles really fun and relaxing. When I'm in the mood, I'll go through the newspapers and magazines in the house to find the crosswords. It isn't any hassle because we always get the same papers, and I know what pages the crosswords are usually on by now.
During the day, I'll usually fuck off into town by myself for a few hours and have a look around the stores. I'll spend ages in CD outlets, health stores, guitar dealers, boutiques and the like. Sometimes I'll go out with friends in the evening.
I like your boyfriend's fish tank idea. I wouldn't keep one myself, too lazy. I used to keep mice, but my mother wasn't fond of them so I gave them to the pet store. I've always found rodents particularly cute. |

| | | I feel I have to many hobbies and cannot settle with them.
My first one was art. I loved to draw and paint. I got into painting more in my teen years, and did it alot. Then like 4 years pasted and Ihad not painted a single thing. Or draw liked I used to. But I still am as good as I want, but know I would be more skilled if I did it more often.
Same goes with guitar playing, Ihave played it for 8 years, had a few bands, but feel I am not that great and didn't go or do much with it. I also mess around playing the keyboard and harmonica, and currently the drums.
Every thing I mention here to, I have to say I taught myself. The whole time.
Then I like to sew and be fashinable, so I have a sewing machine and I hate it to death sometimes cause of that goddamn bobbin will unthread and it makes me cry. But I'd like to design purses or alter clothing. I am also crafting in general, making bracelets or pieces of art to hang up.
I would highly recommend jewerly making. My cousin got into that like 2 years ago and loves it and makes money off her pieces too. Because it is actually a productive hobby. Not "building model airplanes" orsome shit, where the shit just lies around. You can make some money off it.
I also liketo read but that is not considered much, but I like to write to. But feel I cannot sort my thoughts well enough in words, and use the music and paints to express myself. Well I'd go on more, but it's time for me to go home from work now. ox

| | | Hobbies are expensive! I love to knit, but wool is stupidly expensive.... Still I pick up odds and ends. So I spend most of my free time browsing charity shops for books and reading endlessly, its my favourite way to pass the time. If I can't read in bed before I go to sleep, I get really panicky. One of my nightmares would be to be deprived of books! This love extends to the newspapers (I read three a day) and their crosswords (quick, not cryptic). Apart from that I love walking, I love horse riding (yet once more, too costly to maintain) and photography (since I no longer have access to a darkroom, thats getting expensive too!). If I am really bored, I like to make cards and send them to people- they are always pretty crappy, I'm not very arty, but they are definately....unique. Apart from that, I can while away hours just chatting to people. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
