I have rental property and am familiar with how hard it can be to get people out once they are in. There are laws protecting the rights of not only rent paying tenants but ppl you and even your tenants, just let stay there.

In Canada (Ontario) it depends if he's technically a "tenant" or just a roomate. If the arrangement is that he's just renting a room in your residence, and you, the owner/rightful tenant have free rein anywhere in the unit, then they are a roomate. You just need to tell a roomate that they need to leave by a certain date, and if they refuse, you call the police.
