making new friends in a new city

So, me and my fiance just moved from Hull (horrible) to York (lovely)
it's a fresh start and we have a nice house and good jobs and that's all good, BUT I'm finding it really hard to make friends.
I work in IT and my colleauges are all men over 40, so although they are nice they are not really people I can befriend out of work.
I just don't know where to start making female friends my age when I never come into contact with any.

any advice??

i t can be very difficult to meet new people in new cities.
i'd suggest you and your fiance go to local pubs as you might be able to find people your age who you could befriend.

you could try to find online groups in your area but that can be iffy, most times it's the nutters online. however i did meet my best friend online years ago. we ended up living in buildings side by side inthe same complex and just hit it off.

how about your fiance, doe she have any coworkers that are your ages and have similar interests?

I've met many of my friends online. I think it's a great way to meet people and it just makes things a lot easier. It can be really hard to meet people in bars or things like that.
