Part time jobs, flexibility with hours?

Basically i want a job maybe 20hours or less a week (as i'm also at college). i don't particually want to work weekend hours (bah) but would like to work friday day, monday and maybe a few hours on other days. does anybody else have a part time job which offers flexible hours like this? or know if companies usually let you work not weekends, i'd quite like to work in a shop, anybody know of any shops in the UK which would offer these sort of hours?

thanks!

Have you tried working on campus at college? Colleges often have positions for students working in the library, bookstore, offices, etc, and they're more accommodating when it comes to flexible schedules than most places. Otherwise you could try being an office assistant. Retail will usually give you as few hours as you want but it might be hard not working on weekends. But if you put on your application that you can't work on weekends in the availability section, then they can't make you work weekends if they hire you -- it's just a matter of whether they'd hire someone who couldn't do weekends.

if you don't want to work weekends, you should probably stay away from retail and look for an office job.

i would second the suggestion about looking on campus.

it would be a nightmare to find a job that does not want you to work weekends. that's all i work.

yeh you sound just like me. ive kind of given up on the not working weekends. i just wont work weekend nights. i just had a talk with my very possible new manager about it. basically i'll work fridays, saturdays i'll work, but sundays are always off.

now that im out of school it doesnt matter. all my friends are working all the time so who cares. and i dont go out on weekends till like 9:30ish anyway
