let's ***** about coworkers/managers

It's a spinoff of the other thread, obviously.

I'm a hostess, and my huge peeve is servers who think they're managers. I have my own responsibilities and **** to do, but they think nothing of ordering us around to do things they think they're in too much of a hurry to do. "Hey, go take bread to 232 and that woman needs a drink refill." If they ask would I please do them a favor if I'm not too busy, I don't mind and I'll usually do it. But it annoys the hell out of me that they think that we are their assistants and are supposed to take care of the things that they're responsible for. And then they'll take it upon themselves to ***** at us for leaving menus or silverware on the stations for 2 seconds while we go do something that needs to be done in a hurry like taking a highchair to someone, like we're all lazy ****s who can't be trusted to eventually put the silverware in the drawer.

And I hate managers who call you at home, and try to get you to come in without asking directly. They start off with "Do you have any plans tonight? What are you doing tonight?" And if you don't make up that you have concrete plans, then you're expected to come in, and if you don't you're blowing off work for no reason. I usually say something like "I have plans with my boyfriend" and leave out that said plans are to sit on my *** and watch gray's anatomy, then call him afterwards. I have no investments in the company, it's just the source of my paycheck, so I'm under no obligation to come in when I'm not scheduled and required to come in, and I'd appreciate it if they'd just be honest and say "we need workers, can you come in?" instead of trying to trap you into looking lazy and like "not a team player" if you don't. I also hate how, when I ask to go home an hour after I was scheduled to get off, this one girl always tells me "all your times off are tentative." Yes, but eventually you do have to let me leave. You can't just make me sleep here because "my times off are tentative." I never expect to walk out the second I'm supposed to be off, but I figure I should be allowed to leave within a couple of hours of when they scheduled me -- we do have lives, and sometimes people do plan to be home from work within 2 hours of when they're supposed to be.

ShyViolet has disabled reputation
I was once a hostess at a restaurant also, and I had an issue with co-workers thinking they can tell me what to do. Once the other hostess who works a different shift came in and started *****ing at me that I don't do as much work as she does and that I should be doing all this cleaning and ****. Well, my boss never told me to do that stuff. So for some reason, I guess my boss was making her do more dirty work than me. That's not my problem. It majorly ****ed me off that she, another ****ing hostess, thought she could tell me what to do. My answer to that was, if my boss wants me to do it, HE'LL ****ing tell me to do it. Not you.

It was basically just a catiness/jealousy thing. It was so dumb.

Hostessing is the most thankless and **** on job in restaurants. It will NEVER change....we're awful to the hostesses at my job.
Get in on being a waitress....10,000X better.

I always try to be the one who does the cleaning. I like cleaning much more than customers (or "guests" as I have to call them at work).

We had some trainee the other night who was trying to boss me around, telling me to go check the restrooms and ****. I was like, "Um, it's cute that you read your manual, but we don't actually check them every 15 minutes. And there is someone already in charge." But then she got *****ed at by some server (who thinks she's in charge of the place because she's old and nearly everyone else is college age or younger) for getting drinks in a plastic take home cup instead of a bouncer mug, so she got her karma.

wtf is up with your coworkers telling you what to do? i hate that ****. i work in fast food and this ***** coworker of mine was telling me to do **** even when i was doing something. i wanted to be like umm, im busy, if you want it done so bad do it yourself! they have no right to boss you around especially when they got hired on the exact same day you did. its like, wow, its a fast food place, its not that hard, i know how to ****ing do my job kthxbye.

and i hate how some people never lift a finger to clean ANYTHING. theres people i work with that never even touch the lobby, they just expect me to go out there and clean it because theyre too ****ing lazy. and of course if it looks horrible i get blamed for it even when i have a till to run and they are supposed to be the lobby cleaners.

this white ***** talks like shes black and tells me about how much she cheats on her boyfriend and she literally smells like dog**** but ppl are too afraid to tell her.

and when people call out so you have to work extra hard because you're short 1 person. i hate that.
