What kind of tips are you looking for?

Simple ones?

* Use *cash* instead of plastic. Using a debit card you consistently spend 30% more than if you paid with cash. Seriously.

* Write down every penny you spend for the next 30 days to find out where your money is going. This can be a very eye opening experience.

* Once you find out where the nickle and dime purchases are unnecesarrily adding up, begin to alter your behavior (IE: coffee three times a week instead of six)

* Focus on changing your behavior in one area - not all of them at once; that's usually a recipie for failure. Like food - focus on reducing your food costs over the next couple of months; or makeup, or whatever.

* Give some money away to charity each time you get some.

* Save some money each time you get some. Do this first before even looking at your bills. Even if it's $10. Put it away and forget about it.

Some specifics about your situation would help...

Open 2 accounts. Put money into one account to save and everything in the other account you can spend freely. Even better if its with 2 different banks. Its worked quite well for me.
