i know a teen can't move out until they are 17 if they have parental permission and 18 without it. but how does a 16 year old move out if they have parental permission? legally, that is.

i need information on emancipation. is it easy for a teen who just wants to live on their own who doesn't have any family problems to do? are there any other choices? please give me all the information.

i'm pretty sure it's not illegal to move out (with or without parental consent) when you're 16 but why would anyone want to do that? it's nice not to have to worry about laundry and cooking and bills.

firstly, you would have to prove that emancipation would be in your best interest. and also, that you're capable of supporting yourself financially. depending on where you are, you might actually have to be living independently before qualifying. or you could always get married, which is a pretty sure road to emancipation.

but really, live off your parents while you still can.

well getting an apartment would be tough b/c most 16 year olds have no credit, unless the parents would sign. also most jobs that 16 year olds have [assuming you are still a highschool student and arent already in college or soemthing] are only minimum wage and it realllly is impossible to live off minimun wage. of course if you are a trustfund kid that wouldnt be a problem.

1.) my family is moving out of state. so if i don't get emancipated i'll have to either 1.) go with them or 2.) live with random family members that i don't know.

2.) money isnt a problem.
