Do all banks charge a huge fee if you go over on your debit card?

even if its just a dollar? i get charged fucking $35 dollars if i go over even a penny. why dont they just have the debit cards denied instead of letting people go over like that?

and i had pending transactions (nothing huge, only like 3 or 4 dollar charges) too, so now i owe my bank 80 bucks just because i accidentally went over a few dollars !

so retarded. not my fault i didnt have the internet and couldnt check my balance/didnt want to call after every purchase to check my balance/i dont have a checkbook to balance because i hate that crap

i need to switch banks or something, sigh

It is your fault. You better learn to keep track of your finances.

I think most banks charge high penalty fees.

debit cards don't let the transactions go through if you don't ahve any money in your account

or is this something to do with overdrafts?

it is my fault, but 80 dollars is outrageous. its not like i went on a shopping spree. i probably bought some fast food and put some money in my gas tank. i could deal with the 35 but 80? jesus christ. i guess thats how banks make their money

they do let transactions go through tho, which i dont understand why. debit cards should be denied if theres no money on them.

not sure what the overdraft thing is that youre talking about, all i know is that i went 'overdrawn' in my debit/checking account
