- do you do part time work? if so, how many hours a week? yes, but only a few hours. I don't usually earn more than £25 a week.
- do you get student loans or bursaries? I have a loan for my fees (£3000/year), maintenance loan (about £2500 but i put this into savings towards a house) and a non-repayable grant of £1200 a year (I live off this and my wages)
- do your parents/family give you any support? I get £20 a week towards petrol to get to/from uni. they also let me live at home free of charge.
- do you rely on credit cards, overdrafts, etc? no. i'm really good with money.
- do you feel your income is enough to cover your outgoings? definitely. but i live at home with my parents, it'd be a different story if i lived in student/private accommodation.

I still think i don't get enough though considering I'm from a low income family. But I make do. tbh if i were to get more £££ i'd probably just be bumping up topshop's sales.

- do you do part time work? if so, how many hours a week?
Yep, 15 hours a week at a supermarket. Two evenings and a whole Saturday.

- do you get student loans or bursaries?
Yep, but not much because I live at home with wealthy parents. I get uni fees paid for me though. The advantage of being a Scot at a Scottish uni.

- do your parents/family give you any support?
Yep, food, accommodation etc, and some money

- do you rely on credit cards, overdrafts, etc?
I don't rely on it, but use it anyway, which is terrible, because I shouldn't need to.

- do you feel your income is enough to cover your outgoings?
Yes. Im very lucky.

I would recommend getting a job though, even if it's a few hours a week, whatever your financial situation is otherwise. It gives you extra money and gives you work experience, which could become very important when you leave uni.

- do you do part time work? if so, how many hours a week? Generally about 12 hours a week, although I've just had my hours cut to 6.
- do you get student loans or bursaries? I get the standard non-assessed student loan, and a little bit extra because I'm at a London uni.
- do your parents/family give you any support? They pay for my rent.
- do you rely on credit cards, overdrafts, etc? I have an overdraft, but not a credit card. I did actually get a credit card when I first opened my student account, but I barely used it, and when I did use it I'd then forget and wouldn't take it into account when I was budgeting for stuff. So I never use it now.
- do you feel your income is enough to cover your outgoings? Yes. I'm quite lucky in that I have my rent paid for me. I have to pay for my fees out of my loan, but they've changed it this year so that we get an extra £1200 of loan which pays for the fees, so I don't really have to worry about paying for them either (although it does mean more money to pay back in the end).

- do you do part time work? if so, how many hours a week?
yes. last semester i lived away from home and only worked about eight hours a week. i got paid fortnightly and it was torturous - i never had any money for anything except food and even then i could barely afford it.

- do you get student loans or bursaries?
yes.

- do your parents/family give you any support?
well i live in her house but she doesn't give me any money.
she doesn't make me pay rent but i have to contribute $50 per week to the supermarket bill.

- do you rely on credit cards, overdrafts, etc?
hell no.

- do you feel your income is enough to cover your outgoings?
last semester it definitely wasn't, but i'm going to work more hours this semester so hopefully i'll be okay.

I just got laid off from seasonal work at an arts and crafts store. I'm looking very hard to find a new job, but it hasn't been easy. In the meantime, I work the door at a bar I go to, which has helped, but it's not something I can rely on for main income.

- do you get student loans or bursaries?
Took out another college loan, on top of the ones I took out 9 years ago for my failed attempt at Temple University. When all is said and done, I'm probably going to owe $10,000, or more if I decide to transfer to a better school.

- do your parents/family give you any support?
Other than living here and dinner, no. I hardly get any emotional support either, but that's another story.

- do you rely on credit cards, overdrafts, etc?
Credit cards, yes. And it scares the **** out of me.

- do you feel your income is enough to cover your outgoings?
No, and since Graphic Design is such a time-consuming major, I don't think I can get a job that will pay me decent enough to move out of my parents house, which I am DYING to do at this point. I'm trying really hard to turn my life around, and even though I'm busting my *** in school, I've been feeling like a ****ing bum lately. I want out of here so badly, but it's hard to balance that with trying to pursue a REAL career by going back to school. I'm being pulled every which way, it's a constant struggle to keep afloat, and I'm terribly lonely despite all of my awesome friends, but I've got to believe that someday it will all be worth it. It's hard.
