Angry woolworths

So I've started work there as a Christmas temp, i started about a month ago. It has to be the most horrid place I've ever worked in.. although, I havn't worked in many places before..

I can't get over how rude the staff are. They treat chrismas temp staff like s*** and make me do the dirty work. They think i'm being niave and don't realise that actually, I KNOW. I know that they're making me do the work they'd prefer not to do, like clean out the stock room, even though I'm supposed to be till trained.. they havn't trained me yet. Even though on my contract it said within the first two days of working there I would be.

I have a name tag saying 'Emma' and not even my own shirt, as if i don't really work there.

More importantly, last saturday i came into work and they told me i didn't need to be there because another person had taken my hours. I asked why they hadn't rung to inform me but they didn't answer. So i just went home. Then on the sunday I was quite sick and rung in to say i couldn't make it in... the manager said my name wasn't even written down on the list of workers there. 'There is no such person as Nicole working here'
thats what she said

and i told her she was wrong and that i'd done about 43 hours already and she claimed that nobody named Nicole worked at woolworths. I asked if this ment i wouldn't get paid for the hours i had done and she said she'd ring back. She never did ring back.

It doesn't make sense. Everyday when I sign in i go to the office and say 'Hi, i'm here' and she says she will write my name down so i'm signed in.

Today i rang in to double check i was suppose to be at work. I asked if my hours were permamently changed and they still said 'There are no records of a Nicole working here'

This makes me so angry!!

I'm job hunting as soon as possibe. I can't continue working there. They don't have any respect. And it's only £4.20 an hour. But god, how rude of them!

As soon as I get a new job i'm quitting.
Pointless thread.. just needed to complain really. Maybe they feel that they can treat me like this because i'm young?

Thats disgusting! I hope you get paid for the hours you did.. I worked at woolworths for about 8 months. Its ****ty, the hours are always long during holidays and your back gets sore from standing behind a register, you can't yell '****' at customers, and you can't basically do anything. Its gay. The staff all have their little clicks and think they are super duper cool because they serve society their groceries. Don't become one of them for christmas.

Goodluck finding another job.

spitatrix is on a distinguished road
Sometimes lack of threat from unions means they treat you like ****.

I did over forty hrs a week at a supermarket over summer and got paid ninety pounds for the month.. I was so angry..

what is a woolworths like in the UK?

in the US, they were so cool (if you ignored the cheap clothes and old women working their in uniform). the lunch counter was THE best.
