Does anyone else have a tough a time as I do trying to get credit established? I don't get it, I have no debt to any company, I have a permanent full-time job, and even Mastercard turned me down.

I don't get it. Co-signers are overrated, I don't want to have anyone get a credit check showing on theirs just for me.

Anyone have any hints on trying to get credit? I want to upgrade my car before it completely loses value (its a generic Ford Focus which my mom financed, I'm making payments though).

i had a really tough time getting credit too when i was first out on my own.

eventually my mom had to co-sign a credit card for me, and then it was all downhill from there.

be careful though. i fucked mine up fast and now it's harder to rebuild it than it was to get it in the first place.

I'm super conscious & a tightwad, I don't anticipate getting too deep credit wise. All I want is a newer car.

They won't give you credit because you have no credit history and they see that as a risk. It's a real catch 22, I had the same problem. I have one credit card that I was able to get on my own through my bank, but I still have trouble getting credit elsewhere. Buying a car in your own name would be a great way to establish some credit, but it'll most likely be a lot more expensive.

I was able to move into my first apartment on my own without a co-signer, yet I recently got denied for a fucking Victoria's Secret credit card, go figure.

that whole system is meant to fuck you, while lining the pockets of the fatcats. you won't listen to me of course, but it's best if you don't even get involved.
