personal statements

is anyone writing their personal statement at the moment??
how is it going??

i just did my first draft because i have only just decided what course to do. i'm really not sure if i am getting somewhere with it or if i am just making it up really badly.

so let's talk about personal statements/give advice/moan/do some constructive critisism. and anything else personal statement related.

I haven't even started mine, the idea terrifies me.
i never did any extra curricular stuff, ive never travelled anywhere, my hobbies don't sound too good on paper so i dont know what to put.

the way i started was i jotted down anything at all that felt relevant in terms of why i wanted to do the subject and anything at all i could think of that i have done outside of school that might be relevant. some of the stuff i put in was from a few years back, but i didn't have to mention that

when you haven't started it really does seem daunting, but for some reason i didn't find it as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

do you know what subject you want to take drivelbaby?? that was what was stopping me before tonight, but once i found something it got a whole lot easier.

I tried to start mine, but I couldn't figure out what I want colleges to know about me.
I have a bunch of information about it from my writing seminar class. If you want it I can scan it in for you when I get home.
Mostly:
-Show, don't tell.
-Be descriptive, but not wordy.
-Be unique (Don't say your mom/dad/brother/sister inspires you to be a better person, pick someone you'd think most people wouldn't say, like Glammy!)
-And most importantly, make sure whatever you're talking about isn't boring and that it is organized in a way that's easy to follow.
