I'm watching Mommie Dearest for the first time with adult eyes and I love it, and it is such a great film. Of course, it brings the laughs, I remember watching it with my brother and when the scene where Joan strangles her daughter comes up we were having laugh attacks, like crying, rolling on the floor type of laughter, it was insane.

But you get past that and it's a great film. But the thing is that I've totally rediscovered Faye Dunaway. She is SO AMAZING.

Granted, she wasn't always the best, although on her defense, she always gave the whole 9 yards to any role.

I also totally grew up on her, regularly watching Bonnie and Clyde because my dad would rent it all the time, and also of course Mommie Dearest was always on the tv.

It made me realize that I think she was my first female obsession. It was either she or Cruella De Vil. She certainly was The First Blonde for me, way before Madonna, way before Marilyn Monroe. And the first Gorgon Woman also. See, those are the two forces always in my mind, the vixen and the harridan. It's underlying in all of my choices and things I do.

But Faye was the first, so amazing. What's your favorite Faye performance?? and don't be an idiot and say Network.

Chinatown is best. I can only hope she enjoyed making Mommie Dearest.

She had such a strong beginning but then everything went downhill after "Mommie Dearest". She started choosing bad roles and the good roles stop being offered to her. I think it had to do with how difficult she was on set, but her career really went in the toilet and it's sad cause I think she had great character and could have been seen as one of the best.
