Well, plying the girl with 'ludes, champagne and allegedly going down on her doesn't constitute "consensual". The strange aspect is that the other year, this woman publicly stated that she was over it and bygones should be bygones. I don't know, if I were raped and had to see this person flourish in their career as a film maker in the public eye, personally, I couldn't be so serene about them getting away with it.

I do agree, however, Polanski made some phenomenal films. It's akin to the feeling one gets surrounding Gary Glitter - convicted kiddy diddler but that still doesn't cancel out the fact he came out with some glam-tastic anthems in the 70's.

I think she wanted it dropped because Polanski's zillion dollar defense team would tear the shit out of her sexual history, and she was sick of people asking her how she felt every time he won an Oscar. and she has kids now and probably doesn't want them to hear about it. or it's like Law and Order where a lot of the time the victim wants charges dropped or will refuse to testify against the rapist.

what I want to know is how did France justify refusing to extradite him for so long? it's not like tax evasion, rape is illegal in pretty much every country.
