Madonna and Guy Ritchie are set to announce their divorce, according to reports.
According to The Sun (
), the couple will release a statement announcing their split.
The news comes after months of tabloid rumours that the pair's relationship was strained, and claims that Madonna and baseball player Alex Rodriguez were having an affair.
Madonna's spokesperson had previously denied that her client and Ritchie might divorce, but the newspaper quotes a source as saying that the duo will split up because they "
can't bear to live with the pretence any longer".
According to the source, Madonna had planned on a stage-managed separation timed not to interfere with her current 'Sticky And Sweet' world tour.
However, apparently her relationship with Ritchie became so strained the pair have agreed to split within "a couple of weeks".
Ritchie has apparently flown from France to the UK to break the news to his family and remove his possessions from Madonna's London home and move to his house in Wiltshire.
Ritchie's reluctance to adopt another child following the couple's adoption of Malawian baby David Banda was claimed to be a large factor in their decision to split.
Sorry folks but I'm team Ritchie on this one...... Madonna probably doesn't want to ruin her perfectly aligned chakra macrobiotic yogatiastic body with a biological pregnancy (plus she probably couldn't concieve at her age, she's 50 for crying out loud) ......She's got a couple of kids, why can't she make DO. Brad and Angie are exhausted with theirs, can't blame Guy for not wanting the same.
