I think I used the wrong term. I am not a transexual person but I am a transgender(sp?) person, and so is Ellen.

And I didn't have to look for the definition to realize that Ellen is as I am. I looked for the definition because of the point that sokkar brought out and I looked for it, but I already knew that Ellen and I are the same thing, and I was right. We both fit the description of the transgender person.

I am sure that a transgender person, while not being a transexual per se, could become a transexual and chose to have a change sex operation. I've decided that I'm not going to go that route, so I'm staying like Ellen.

but you don't understand!! coincidentally I met a friend today, and she is a butch lesbian like Ellen and years ago we touched on the subject and I said that well somepeople are gay and some people feel like they are from the opposite gender and she said that she felt that way and I already knew it.

I always thought that I was a transexual person, and transexual people always end up having sex change surgery to correct the massive error of nature, and since I never had the desire to go down that route and had decided I would never do that, I always felt like somehow I was failing myself. That I wasn't doing the right thing, that my whole existence was a dreadful horrible mistake from nature and I had to fix it and I felt like a coward for not doing it.

But now I just found out that I'm not any of those things, that I actually am a diferent category, and that I don't need to change anything because I'm just one more variety I guess but now I have a place, I have A LABEL. I know that labels have this really negative connotation but they are actually quite empowering in a way, you are something, as opposed to nothing wich is what I've always felt until now.

I always thought Ellen was soft butch/chapstick lesbian (i.e. in the middle of femme and butch). I don't see why you think she's so masculine, unless you think she's supressing her masculinity?

But just because society has assigned certain behaviours and/or mannerisms as masculine or feminine, why do you buy into it so easily? Take transvesites as an example...most women don't look like that, nor would they ever want to.

And back to Ellen and Portia, why do you assume that Ellen is the "man"? Would it shatter your world if you found out that Portia was more dominant and Ellen more submissive?
