yes, exactly. Why is this so hard to grasp?? aren't there transexual people?? who are literally born in the wrong gender?? not all transexual people choose to or have a sex change operation.

Lots of them are like Helen and they just lookwise transform themselves into what they feel they are inside, in Ellen's case, a man.

Dolores, as long as they both have vag the "people who are homophobic or are against gay marriage or atren't against it but don't support it" (wtf?) aren't going to like it. It doesn't make an inch of difference that Ellen wears a pantsuit.

In fact, they seem to hate people who wear pantsuits the most. Just look at Hilary.

EDIT: I meant Hilary Clinton. That (^) is clearly not her.

It's easier to deal with a gay couple if they resemble the traditional characteristics of a straight couple, as opposed to dealing with a couple that looks totally gay.
on the contrary - i think that it's easier for people to digest the idea of two femme girls as a couple. the butch girls seem to get more homophobia thrown their way than the femmes.

Yeah, people are mildly more comfortable because of some combination of stupid porn fantasies and the fact that neither woman is stepping outside the narrow little rules of what women are supposed to look like. Admittedly, I didn't think anyone still thought a woman 'looks like a man' just because she has short hair and is wearing pants, but I'm often surprised by that kind of thing.

i have to admit, i'm definitely guilty of thinking women look like men when they have supershort haircuts and wear more masculine looking clothes, which is not to say i think all women with short hair and pants look like men. i'm talking about the girls that make an obvious and concerted effort to look like what we traditionally think of as masculine. and bringing this back to the ellen discussion, i've always thought she looks mostly feminine in casual/gap store clothing and not at all manly.

Well, that's one thing, and claiming that this isn't actually a same-sex marriage is another.

Besides, I have long hair, wear makeup and almost never wear pants, and I’m pretty sure I’d look like the guy standing next to Portia DiRossi in a gown.

So a blatantly gay man gets more flac than one homophobes can pretend are straight. Shouldn't the opposite make sense too, then, that blatantly gay women, the ones that act more "manly", get more flac?

do not let Wildwoman's intellectual BULLYING diminish your opinion or affect you.

When I talk about a woman looking like a man, I'm not talking about women with short hair and manly clothes.

Edie Sedgwick had really short hair, wore pants regularly and sometimes even dressed as a boy but she was still the embodiment of femeninity.

I'm not talking about those type of women. I'm talking about women who buy MEN'S CLOTHES(as opposed to unisex clothes), don't wear make up, have a man's haircut(as opposed to short hair), talk like a man, walk like a man and overall behave like a man, and who are usually gay. Ironically such women always wear earrings, lol, as if the earrings will make up for their overall lack of femininity.

I've seen Ellen's show, and make no mistake, she is a transexual person, as in a woman who emotionally/mentally is a man. It takes one to know one.

I mean the way she talks and behaves, she has more masculinity in her eyebrow than I do in my whole body, and physically I am a man.

In fact, Ellen is so fucking manly that I had a classmate at school and he was the exact clone of Ellen. And he was a manly straight guy, a little geeky like ellen but he was a man.

no because society as a whole is very sexist in a macho way. And what does that mean? that masculine traits are prefered or looked at in a more positive light.

It's the whole the man is a stud while the woman is a slut mentality that is in every one in varying degrees.

Being feminine is perceived as weak and being masculine is not. Obviously a masculine woman is going to rub some feathers the wrong way but she's always going to be perceived as strong regardless and that's good. But a feminie guy?? I mean you are fucked.

i really think you ought to let ellen decide what she is instead of deciding for her.

do I even KNOW Ellen?? I don't give a fuck. I'm just saying the truth. Us transexual people have a tranny radar and I KNOW she feels she's a man in her head and that is why she dresses like a man.

Not all transexuals are willing to go through a sex change operation. Someone of her level has lots to lose if she chooses to do that, so she's doing what lots of tranny's do, they just accept they have a different gender than the one in their heads and they just live the gay life and try to be as normal as possible.

It's what I've decided to do. I should be a woman but I can't and I'm not going to go through a sex change operation so I've decided to just live as a gay person. I'm not going to lie, it's a pickle but like I said not all trannies are ready or willing to go through such a dramatic change. Arguably you can say it's not even worth it, but that's a whole different subject.

But I can tell other people who are in the same predicament. Just because Ellen doesn't go into Time magazine and goes "Yep, I'm a man inside" doesn't mean that she isn't. She is.

okay this is a clip from ellen's show that i just looked at. the sweater she's wearing is clearly made for a woman, and her dancing throughout the clip looks pretty much like every other woman in the audience who is dancing along with her, except with more room to move about. so i for one am NOT convinced that she thinks of herself as "a man inside" or that its evidenced in everything she wears and does.

ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

i'm sure that, as usual, you will flat out reject any assessment of something that isn't a mirror reflection of your own, and you will probably continue to insist that you've got some special radar power where you can tell by looking at a person's tv/media persona how they sexually identify inside. so go ahead with that. i just don't buy it.

Idiot, stop pushing your self-loathing onto the rest of the world. Just because you have some inane ideas about what "being a woman" is that are straight out of a Douglas Sirk melodrama neither makes you a woman inside nor has anything to do with anyone else.
That's why it's so funny seeing you going on so about homophobes. You are a homophobe, but that's an old story.
