I liked his cameo in Friends. It really showed the depth of his acting skills.

i always assumed he was a reactionary fucker all his life, but apparently he was once quite radical. he was one of the first white celebrities to join the civil rights movement, picketing his own films when they were shown at segregated cinemas as far back as 1961

also he went on television supporting gun control laws after bobby kennedy was shot

He had a good innings and everything. I kind of liked the man's acting. When he was cast right, I think it really worked. Big stony faced totem of an action man with a soul roles? He could do them. Pity he stopped being really liberal. He came across as more likeable when he was.

I seem to remember him railing against Ice T's hardcore band "Body Count" because they did a song called "Cop Killer."
He went to Congress and read some lyrics by Body Count called "KKK Bitch" very dramatically. He acted really OUTRAGED by these lyrics! It was insane. He was disavowing the same shit he supported (i.e. guns and shooting people).

I thought the whole point of the NRA is that they're pro-guns and pro-shooting bad guys, not just "shooting people". That basically they think guns are okay if you're not a dick with them (you know, like alcohol, drugs, and most other stuff that we think is awesome). If people aren't aware of this, maybe that's why there's so much animosity towards the guy.

Agreed with what you're saying, a lot of NRA people are into hunting, target shooting, etc. I'm personally biased because my dad was a huge supporter of the NRA, and he was a giant reactionary dickhead. :emo: Not everyone who owns guns is like that obviously, some people shoot for sport (i.e. at gun ranges) and aren't into the more disgusting aspects of gun-loving. Unfortunately in the U.S. there are a LOT of people who are into guns who like them for the wrong purposes, and they use the NRA as their vehicle.
