cunt, cunt, cunt. What is the big deal. It's a word, just like fuck, shit, piss, always, and the. I don't understand why so many people are so horribly offended by this word.
i personally don't find it offensive but that is a very big deal for NBC, considering the audience of the show and the financial consequences of a fine imposed by the FCC.
Not only does Meredith Viera flinch, but there's this whole firestorm about it, AFTER starting off the segment with this whole spiel about "happy vagina day" and how the play has changed lives and is going to end violence to women and young girls, etc., all because Jane Fonda said the title of the piece on air, which even in context is still verboten. Classic.

I feel the same way. I've sat and watched my friends say fuck and shit and bitch and then if someone says cunt they're all "Whoa, no, come on, that's bad. I never call people that word." And it's like, well stop cursing all together because cunt is not that harsh. I just don't get why it's such a HUGE deal.
P.S.
I do understand that television censors that stuff, though. I just think cunt isn't that bad to say but I understand if it's on television that's not good.
i don't get the big deal. she wasn't calling someone a cunt. she wasn't randomly dropping the word. it was the name of the play she was being offered to do or something. meh.

yeah exactly. it's not random cussing. she's naming the monologue she was asked to do.
On the Shock-o-meter, is this better or worse than a nipple? Out of 14.

it's all about the benjamins.
she must have a movie coming out soon.
shock tactics seem to be the key to publicity lately.
even for a 70 year old actress.

I thought the same, but according to imdb, she doesn't even have anything in the works right now.
